Ex-Union Minister PR Kumaramangalam’s wife Kitty murdered at Delhi residence

Former Union Minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam’s wife Kitty Kumaramangalam was murdered at her residence in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar last night, police said. She was suffocated to death with a pillow, as per the initial probe. 

Her son, Rangarajan Mohan Kumaramangalam, is the leader of Congress. Kumaramangalam, who was in Bengaluru, left for Delhi soon after learning about her mother’s demise.

According to police, one person has been detained and a search is underway to nab two other accused.

Police said that the incident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday night. Police suspect that the incident happened during the course of robbery in the house. The 67-year-old Kitty Mangalam was alone in the house with her maid at the time of the incident.

“Her house help told laundryman came to the house around 8.30 pm, followed by 2 more persons who tied her & murdered Kitty Kumaramangalam. Laundryman has been arrested,” said police.

Kitty Kumaramangalam has been a lawyer in the Supreme Court. Her husband PR Kumaramangalam had served as a minister in the PV Narasimha Rao government. Later, he joined BJP. He was also the power minister during the Vajpayee government.
