Joe Rogan is an American stand-up comedian, podcast host, actor, and mixed martial art (MMA) color commentator. Joe Rogan is best known for his Spotify podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ where he invites celebrities like Elon Musk, Kanye West, etc. on his podcast and talks about various topics.

Joe Rogan was eleven years old when his family settled in Massachusetts where he attended Newton South High School. He took up karate when he was fourteen and went on to become a four-time full-contact taekwondo state champion. He won the U. S. Open Taekwondo when he was nineteen years old. However, he stopped fighting after some time as he started getting constant headaches, and anxiety of not winning.

He went to the University of Massachusetts but dropped out of college as he couldn’t understand the course and motive behind the degree.
In a tweet on his Twitter account, Joe Rogan revealed that his father’s ancestral roots were in Ireland, and Joe himself was 3/4 Italian and 1/4 Irish.
Joe Rogan’s father was a retired police officer, and his mother was a free-spirited person who consumed alcohol and cannabis. The couple got divorced when Joe was five years old, and later, his mother remarried to a hippie guy. Reportedly, she also used to visit a gay couple in their neighborhood, where she would get naked with them and smoke pot and dance with them.
Joe Rogan was planning to start a career in kickboxing when his friends suggested he try out his hand at a stand-up comedy show. Joe performed his first open-mic comedy set at the Stitches Comedy Club in Boston on August 27, 1988. The event went well, and Rogan decided to try out his hand in stand-up comedy as a full-time profession.
Before becoming a full-time stand-up comedian, Joe did other jobs such as teaching martial arts at Boston University, driving a limousine, construction work, and driving around for a private investigator to keep himself financially afloat.
In 1990, Joe Rogan moved to New York City to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. in 1994, he made his television debut with the Fox sitcom ‘Hardball.’ In 1995, Rogan played the role of Joe Garrelli, an electrician and handyman in the NBC sitcom ‘News Radio.’

In 1997, Rogan was appointed as the backstage and post-fight interviewer for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), but after two years, he had to quit the job as his salary was not enough to cover his expenses of traveling.
In 2001, Rogan became friends with Dana White, the president of UFC, and he offered Joe Rogan to work as a color commentator for the event. For the first few fights, Rogan did the commentary for free in exchange for prime tickets of the fights for him and his friends. Later, Joe Rogan started charging for doing the commentary. The same year, he was asked to be the host of the American version of the stunt game show ‘Fear Factor.’
Joe Rogan’s presence on the television gave him better exposure and increased the number of people at his stand-up comedy shows. In 2002, Joe Rogan was roped in to be a part of the American sitcom ‘Just Shoot Me’ for a single episode. He became the co-host for the comedy show ‘The Man Show.’
In 2005, Joe Rogan was hired as the announcer for The Ultimate Fighter series of UFC, and he also hosted several other fights for the UFC franchise.

Joe made his movie debut with the movie It’s Very Merry Muppet Christmas (2002). He then worked in several other movies like Zookeeper (2011), Here Comes The Boom (2012), and Bright (2017). Joe was also a part of the documentaries ‘The Union: The Business Behind Getting High’ and ‘American Drug War: The Last White Hope’ in 2007.
Joe Rogan recorded his first stand-up comedy special set ‘I’m Gonna Be Dead Some Day’ in December 1999, and the set was released in August 2000. In 2006, Joe Rogan began comedy tours across cities to take a break from television and focus on his stand-up career. He decided to hire two videographers to film his stand-up shows and then use the video clips for his website. In 2005, Joe Rogan recorded his second stand-up comedy special ‘Joe Rogan: Live’ in Phoneix, Arizona.

In 2007, Joe released his fourth stand-up comedy special ‘Shiny Happy Jihad.’ In 2011, Rogan became the host for the seventh and final season of ‘Fear Factor.’ Later that year, he recorded his sixth comedy special ‘Joe Rogan Live from the Tabernacle’ and it was released on his website for $5 in December 2012.
In December 2009, Joe Rogan started his own podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ and he recorded the first episode of the podcast on December 24, 2009, with comedian Brian Redban. The podcast was loved by the audience and it entered the list of top 100 podcasts on iTunes. The podcast received more than 16 million downloads in October 2015.

On May 19, 2020, Joe Rogan signed a multi-year licensing deal with the online music streaming platform Spotify. The deal was closed at an estimated value of $100 million. From January 2021 onwards, the podcast was made exclusive for Spotify, and the video version of the podcast will be available on YouTube.
After listing Joe Rogan’s podcast on their streaming platform, Spotify had to remove more than forty-two episodes from the podcast library because of their controversial and inappropriate content. Four episodes removed from the list were with comedian Chris D’Elia, who was accused of ‘grooming’ underage girls and soliciting child pornography.
In 2020, Joe Rogan faced backlash from the LGBTQ+ community. During one of his episodes, Joe made a transphobic comment, and after this, the people of the LGBTQ+ community asked the CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek to review the episode. Later, Daniel defended Joe Rogan and said that the episode was reviewed by a team of experts, and it was ruled out as it meets the content guidelines set by the platform.

In April 2021, Ali Macofsky, a comedian from Los Angeles, was invited to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast where she talked about the American YouTuber Trisha Paytas. In conversation with Joe Rogan, she mentioned that Trisha had an OnlyFans account; to which Joe Rogan responded by asking his staff to find a picture of Trisha in a bikini. After seeing the picture, he responded “you can keep that.” Trisha Paytas saw this video, and she responded to Joe Rogan with a video on her Twitter and YouTube accounts.

Joe Rogan identifies himself as a person who is socially liberal. He is a supporter of same-sex marriage, gay rights, women’s rights, universal healthcare, usage of recreational drugs, and minimum income. However, he also supports the Second Amendment that allows a person to keep arms and ammunition.
Joe Rogan is a supporter of the usage of recreational drugs and the legalization of cannabis, he believes that these products hold several medicinal and healing benefits. He has also worked in several documentaries like ‘The Union: The Business Behind Getting High,’ and ‘Marijuana: A Chronic History’ to show the growth, sale, trafficking of cannabis, and other things associated with it. The team interviewed cannabis farmers, police officers, doctors, etc. to better understand the functioning of everything.

Joe Rogan uses isolation tanks for meditation and sensory deprivation. He believes that his time in the isolation tanks has helped him understand the fundamentals of consciousness and become more aware of his capabilities.
Joe Rogan likes hunting and he believes in the ‘Eat What You Kill’ movement. This movement was introduced to focus on boycotting the practice of factory farming, and mistreatment of animals that were raised for food. In an interview with a magazine, Rogan said-
Yes, I get some grief for it. But you know what’s unexpected to me? How little rational thought comes from vegans who own pets and feed them murdered animals. I’m like, ‘Whoa, what the fuck is going on here?’”
Joe Rogan has been vocal about a lot of issues and one of those is infant circumcision. He is against this practice as there is no scientific evidence available the proves the benefits of this practice. He is also against the practice of female genital mutilation as both the practices are unethical and non-consensual in nature.

During one of the episodes of his podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ his guest Jamar Neighbors asked Joe if he would take the vaccine for Covid-19 to which Joe replied-
No. I mean, I would if I felt like I needed it. I just feel like if you maintain your health—and I think for some people it’s important, for some people it’s good.”

Joe Rogan had not seen his father since his parent’s divorce. In an interview with the ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine, Joe said-
All I remember of my dad,” he says, “are these brief, violent flashes of domestic violence. And when I was five, I had a fight with one of my cousins — punched him in the face over something stupid. My dad pulled me aside and when I told him the truth, he was happy that I punched my cousin. But I don’t want to complain about my childhood. Nothing bad ever really happened to me. He was just a very violent, scary guy.”
Joe Rogan has a fridge full of animal meats in his garage which he acquired himself during his hunting trips. Later, he cooks those meats for his family and friends.
