LUCKNOW: A five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her two schoolmates, aged 8 and 10, on the premises of a private school in UP’s Gonda district.
The crime was committed on Friday but the survivor’s father lodged a police complaint on Sunday. Police have lodged a case of gangrape against the two accused.
Police are questioning the parents of the two accused and scanning the CCTV cameras on the school premises to get details.
Circle officer, Sadar, Shilpa Verma, said preliminary probe has revealed that the incident took place on Feb 9 during the school’s recess. “The accused boys took the girl to a secluded spot near the classroom and allegedly sexually assaulted her,” said Verma.
“We have got the girl’s medical examination done and her statement has been recorded,” she said.
The girl’s father in the complaint stated that his daughter returned from school crying on Friday. When asked about the reason, she said two boys from the school took her to a secluded spot near the class and did “something that hurt her and left her bleeding”.
Gonda SP Vineet Jaiswal said a police team under a woman Dy SP is conducting the probe.
Forensic team has also collected evidence from the crime spot, the SP added.
Sources said injury in the private parts of the girl was found in her medical examination.
“Exposure to sexual content freely available on the internet is leading to adverse impact on the psyche of boys of this age,” said Prof Adarsh Tripathi in the psychiatrist department of King George’s Medical University, Lucknow.
“They may not know the implications and law regarding the crime and could have committed it out of curiosity,” said Tripathi.
