Chittorgarh, the administrative center of Chittorgarh District in Rajasthan, has witnessed a long history of political rivalry. The most recent electoral battle in 2018 saw Chandrabhan Singh Aakya of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerge victorious, securing 106,563 votes. His closest competitor, Surendra Singh Jadawat of the Indian National Congress (INC), garnered 82,669 votes, creating a significant margin of 23,894 votes.
This pattern of intense competition was not new to Chittorgarh. In the 2013 elections, Chandrabhan Singh Aakya (BJP) claimed victory with 85,391 votes, defeating Surendra Singh (INC) by 11,850 votes. Singh secured 73,541 votes. In 2008, the political rivalry intensified when Surendra Singh (INC) emerged victorious, securing 67,959 votes out of the total 137,365 valid votes. Shrichand Kripalani of the BJP trailed behind with 56,408 votes, losing by a margin of 11,551 votes.
In the 2003 elections, the BJP’s Narpat Singh Rajvi emerged victorious with 64,757 votes, outstripping INC candidate Surendra Singh Jadawat, who secured 52,944 votes. Rajvi’s victory margin stood at 11,813 votes out of the total 129,483 valid votes. In 1998, the INC candidate Surendra Jadawat emerged triumphant with 53,510 votes, securing a victory margin of 6,831 votes over BJP’s Narpat Singh Rajvi, who garnered 46,679 votes out of the total 105,127 valid votes.
