TRICHY: Tamil Nadu municipal administration minister K N Nehru on Friday laid the foundation stone for a satellite bus terminus in Srirangam.

The bus terminus and commercial outlets would come up on the ground floor with provisions to halt eight buses at a time. A restaurant and 22 shops with two different floor specifications would come up as part of the commercial complex near the bus bays.
The first floor of the bus stand will have a multipurpose auditorium with seating facilities for 260 people. The auditorium will have a dining hall that can seat 140 people at a time.
“A two-wheeler parking stand is also proposed. We will try to complete construction work before the deadline,” the municipal administration minister said.
The minister hinted at building a separate omnibus terminus in Srirangam on the Kollidam flood bank road by retrieving around six acres of land from the HR&CE department.
