NEW DELHI: The BJP continued to mount pressure on the Congress leadership over the recovery of around Rs 300 crore cash from opposition party’s Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu.
Slamming the Congress, BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday sought an answer from Rahul Gandhi as the haul of unaccounted cash is considered to be the ‘highest ever’ in the country.
“Brother, both you and your leader Rahul Gandhi will have to answer. This is the new India, here people will not be allowed to be exploited in the name of the royal family. You will get tired running, but the law will not leave you,” Nadda said in a post on X.
Asserting strong action in the case, the BJP chief said that if Congress is guarantee of corruption, PM Modi is a guarantee for action. “If Congress is the guarantee of corruption, then Modi ji is the guarantee of action against corruption. Every penny looted from the public will have to be returned,” Nadda added.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi had also hit out at the grand old party over the seizure by the income tax department from liquor company premises linked to Jharkhand MP Sahu. Coming down heavily on the Congress, PM Modi had said that the seizure exposed the opposition party’s hypocrisy over corruption.
“Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi’s guarantee,” PM Modi had said after the cash was recovered from different locations belonging to the Congress MP. Sahu was active in the Congress padyatra ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi.
Taking potshots at the Congress leadership and the Gandhi family, BJP’s IT department head Amit Malviya shared a picture of Sahu with Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
“Dhiraj Prasad Sahu lost two Lok Sabha elections but has been sent to the Rajya Sabha by the Congress thrice. Sahu says his family has been associated with the Congress since Independence,” Malviya said in a post on X and added, “Instead of ‘trying’ to distance from Sahu, Congress must explain which Gandhi’s ATM was he”.
