YAMUNANAGAR: Three persons were crushed to death by a rashly driven truck on the National Highway (NH) 907 near Chhachhrauli town of Yamunanagar district on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Karan of Gulab Nagar Colony in Jagadhri, Shiv Poojan of Ambala Cantonment and Arun Kumar of Kansapur Colony, Yamunanagar.
As per the information, the deceased persons were standing outside a marriage palace when the accident took place.
On the complaint of Munish Kumar of Jhanda Chowk of Jagadhri, a case was registered against truck driver Sarvajeet Singh of Kharwan village of the district under Sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Chhachhrauli police station on Thursday.
Complainant Munish said that his known Karan and Shiv had gone to a marriage palace near Chhachhrauli town on Jagadhri-Paonta Sahib highway, for photography work.
“Karan and Shiv were standing on one side of the national highway on Wednesday night. Arun Kumar, an e-rickshaw driver, was also standing with them on the roadside. A rashly driven truck came from the Chhachhrauli side and hit another truck approaching from the opposite side near the marriage palace. The truck driver lost control and crushed the three persons to death, who were standing on roadside”, said Munish.
A police officer said that the post-mortem of all three deceased persons were conducted at civil hospital in Yamunanagar on Thursday and bodies were handed over to the family members.
Chhachhrauli SHO Sumit Kamboj said, “Accused truck driver has been identified and a case has been registered against him. He will be arrested soon.”
